Group Lesson Plan

- The outline due date: by the end of class
- Each group needs to make examples of the lesson before the date of your presentation
- Each group has about 45 min. (including preparation and cleaning time) to teach the lesson in class

- What kinds of artwork did you ask the child to do (or did the child do)?
- Did he/she like or dislike it and why?
- What are the characteristics of artwork (describe the child’s artwork)?
- What was the environment like? (E.g. How was weather? Were there people around? )

Children's Book

2-D or 3-D book related to the artist in your research paper

The purpose of this project is to integrate four principles - Art History, Aesthetics, Art Making, and Criticism - into children’s book based on the research paper of an artist whom you selected. Your children’s book should be the culmination of your knowledge and experience that you learned through this course. The content and material of the book should not be limited; however, the book should have at least ten pages including the front & back pages and pictures & story.

Consider ...

1. Audience: decide the age level for whom you would like to create the book.
(e.g. kindergarten, elementary, secondary, and etc.)

2. The purpose of the book: what would you like to say about art particularly anyhow?
(e.g. artist life, the characteristics of the movement, subject, material, and etc.)

3. Story: how would you write a story to attract the particular age group of children based on the purpose of the book?

4. Pictures: how many pictures do you have to create depending on the content of story?

5. Materials & Techniques: what kinds of art materials and techniques would you like to use?
(e.g. pointillism by watercolor, acrylic painting, printmaking, collage, etc.)

Go to see public exhibitions (e.g. the University gallery, the Humanities Center, the Janet Turner Print Museum, the Art gallery, and other galleries/museums) and choose one actual artwork (not reproduction) to describe as follows:

1. Title, Artist, Year of the artwork, and where you found/saw it (or an explanation if you did not find these information).
2. Describe what it looks like and what you think of the art based on the study (e.g. the elements of arts, the materials of art, etc.)
3. Explain reason you chose it (and like or dislike)
